Typically, the process takes anywhere from six months to a year. The reason for the variance in procedure time is that everyone’s implant fuses to the jawbone during osseointegration at a different rate. The implant must be fully fused before the process can continue, and Dr. Barfuss will check on the progress during regular checkups.

How do I care for my implant-supported dentures?

The proper way to care for your dentures is similar to caring for your natural teeth. In addition to following Dr. Barfuss’ aftercare instructions, we recommend these tips:

  • Brush carefully around the implant sites
  • Use a soft-bristled brush for cleaning
  • Use a non-abrasive toothpaste 
  • Eat soft foods until fully recovered
  • Avoid straws and spitting for up to two weeks 

After you’re fully healed, just make sure to brush twice a day, floss after meals, and schedule regular checkups at our Twin Falls office to ensure your new smile stays healthy.
